Study Series 14 Lesson 5: The Parousia: the Resurrection – 2 Thessalonians 1

Study Series 14 Lesson 5: The question we have to ask is: Did Jesus come, in the lifetime of the Thessalonians and give the
Thessa
lonians relief from the persecution that they were, at that time, experiencing?

If you answered, “No, Jesus did not come in the lifetime of the Thessalonians and he did not give them relief from their persecution, this means that Paul made a false prediction.

Was Paul writing to the first century church at Thessalonica?  Yes, he was.   Were they being persecuted at that time?  Yes, they were.  Did Paul promise them relief from that persecution?  No doubt about it.  Did he say that relief would come, “when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven?”  He most assuredly did.

This study takes a deep dive into 2 Thessalonians 1 in combination with other related scriptures to provide the “scripture answers scripture” hermeneutical answer exploring the timing and nature of the resurrection described in the Bible –> and covers many related passages from the Old and New Testaments. I can assure that you will be enlightened, encouraged and strengthened in your faith as scripture answers scripture.

This was written and spoken to living breathing people 2,000 years ago, so it becomes imperative for us to put ourselves in their time, culture, events and worldview in order to correctly understand what the Holy Spirit was saying to them (and then for what would be for us). This study is sure to be very helpful.
