“6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of THIS AGE, nor of the rulers of THIS AGE, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of THIS AGE knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Cor. 2:6-8).
THIS AGE refers to the age before AD 70. It was the Jewish age under the Old Covenant. It was during “THIS AGE” that Christ was crucified and the Jewish rulers and unbelievers were about to be destroyed in AD 67-70 with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. At the end of THIS AGE the judgments would come. “The tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it was at the end of THIS AGE.” (Matt. 13:40). This judgment occurred during Christ’s Parousia ending in AD 70.
His disciples came to Jesus privately on the Mount of Olives and asked Him what would be the sign of His coming and of the END OF THE AGE? (Matt. 24:3). THIS AGE was the Jewish age, which would end at the second coming Parousia of Christ. It would end at the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, which occurred in AD 70. Jesus assured His disciples that their generation would not pass away until all these things took place. (Matt. 24:34).
Christ would come during His Parousia in AD 66-70, consummating the salvation of His saints, at the end of THIS AGE. He would rapture and rescue the remaining living faithful saints from that wicked Jewish age in which they were being extremely persecuted.
“3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from THIS PRESENT EVIL AGE, according to the will of our God and Father.” (Gal. 1:3-4).
